About

Sam Giraldo is a Montreal-based jazz guitarist, composer, and bandleader whose music is rooted in tradition yet driven by innovation. Deeply inspired by the timeless artistry of John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, and Sonny Stitt, Sam brings a voice that is both grounded in the bebop and modal traditions and unafraid to push their boundaries. He is quickly building experience through frequent performances across Montreal’s jazz scene, both as a bandleader and a sideman.

Currently a student at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, one of Canada’s leading institutions for jazz education. In 2024, his work was recognized with the Student Composers Prize at Montreal’s Oddsound Festival — an award that highlights his emerging talent, musical maturity, and distinctive voice as a composer.
